On Friday 10th May, 170 guests, resplendent in their tuxedos and ball gowns, were greeted with a Prosecco drinks reception whilst being serenaded with live music provided by acclaimed jazz musician, David Onac. There was the chance to take part in an exciting and very popular sealed bid auction, featuring an array of spectacular lots, before enjoying an elegant 3 course dinner and the entertaining live auction. Prizes were donated by local and national companies including: a 2 night stay at 5* hotel, Augill Castle (raising an incredible £1000!), an hour with Sheffield based photographer James Thomas Stanhope, various holidays, a wire fox cub by local artist Fenella Noble, event tickets and luxurious hampers.
The evening was hosted by Golddigger Trust’s Chief Executive, Beth Stout & Creative Director, Mandy Toombs, but the real star of the evening was Katie, one of our young people, who courageously shared about her experience of being supported by Golddigger Trust and the impact this support has had on her life. She made a plea for auction guests to be generous, saying “not everyone wants to talk, but if you do, then everyone deserves the chance to be listened to”.
The event was a huge success, smashing the ambitious £20,000 fundraising target to raise a brilliant £26,692! Every penny raised will go to Golddigger Trust as we work to unearth value in vulnerable young people across Sheffield and beyond.
